Yes, I stuck it in my metal lathe to get the diameter of the bag hole and then put it in my wood lathe to turn the top. Thank you fellas for the compliments! It's lovely. I assume you turned the stopper on a lathe?
I sand the pieces flush and slick the edges with water. Lightly sand again and burnish the edge with beeswax and a piece of folded up canvas. I stain them before any of thisVery nice!!! I really like the metal rings, and the stopper is fantastic.
What is your technique for finishing / burnishing the edges? They look really good.
Thanks, I will try that on my next project. Hope it turns out as nice as yours. I made a bag for a friend and one for my wife. It was my first project and I didn’t really know what to do so I just left it raw.I sand the pieces flush and slick the edges with water. Lightly sand again and burnish the edge with beeswax and a piece of folded up canvas. I stain them before any of this
Nice job, looks good!Had to make one for my .32 rifle. Stained this one a shade darker and made a stopper from a cow horn tip. Thanks for looking!!
