Another hill billy idea for sight

Best thing about this one is it looks PC on most guns imo. The handy thing is I can go from ghost ring to any size arpeture.When installing arpeture I just slide the arpeture into the ghost ring then roll a small o ring over the part of the arpeture that is protruding out the front of the sight.The last pic#4 is a much better veiw Tap to enlarge.Pic#1 the two dots on the base is where I staked the sight in place on a rifle. I use a small center punch.

I just silicone the sight to the tang about 1 in. Behindwhere barrel ends. This was after taping it on and look thru to see how it was. The silicone is so I can shoot a few shots yo double ck. I woll then either file the dovetailed off and solder tge sight on, or dovetailed the tang and install the sight then file the sides of the sight to match the left and right flats so I won't have to remove any wood. It could be mounted any where on the barrel but right behind the tail end of tge barrel looks good and works good for my old eyes. I'm more excited about this simple sight than this fancier ones I made.

Here is a couple pics of the sight temporarily mounted with white silicone. I mightmove it about a in more toward the butt end. It may look funny to some being mounted this close to the hammer.

I think it looks more like a muzzeliader sight than the fancy mechanical ones I made.
It's simple and the arpeture can be changed from ghost ring to whatever size you want. Arpeture is held on with O ring and is very sturdy. Here's a pic of Oring. I actually have two on there just because I didn't want to pissplace the other. Two are not needed. Two look good on it though.

I like your O ring idea. Easy to change apertures or go to a ghost ring. Using silicone to attach the sight is a good idea too specially if you are trying to find a location and might have to move it. You can buy clear and silver silicone and also touch it up with a felt tip marker.

White just happened to be what I had. Ugly. Lol. I'm not sure if I will dove rale or solder the sight yet.

If going on your tang, why not simply screw it down?

I've had great success with the Johnson Peep sight mounting it on the tang. This isn't for the mechanically challenged , however. The sight is once again in stock at MBSupply. I cut the original sight casting , behind the mounting screw holes. Angle the bottom side to fit the angle of the tang , and with a small screw ,#4--40 tpi , drill up through the bottom of the tang . Drill and tap the underside of the sight , and mount the peep sight. If the sight becomes undesirable , the hole in the tang , can be easily filled with a machine screw , and filed off flush. I can see and shoot.......A miracle..........oldwood

Which one. I've got3 diff ones.You mean the one where I used o rings

Dwight here's a pic of one as close as I could find. You can use about any buckhorn sights. What I did was took a small nut. A round piece of steel rod slice off about 3/16 in. layer w0ould be easier.center and drill a hole JUST big enough that the threaded0 part of arpeture will fot through. Put small o ring on front and you've got that part. Ok what I used was a round file (dremel ok) where the sight notch is you file a half moon cradle for that layer of steel to set in.
Then I took my acetylene oxy torch and brazed that little circle in to that cradle. The rest is clean up file, sand paper. I got things out of order but I'm sure you won't put o ring on then try to braze.lol

Welcome the hardest part is brazing that little ring into the half moon on the sight.
I've used a torch alot all my life. Might have someone wire weld it in.
