Sooter,

Thanks for your post. I had exactly the same questions regarding cleaning my GPR. Lots of good answers here to put my mind at ease. I won't slack on cleaning, but it's good to know that I'm doing it right.

Interesting reading. Have been using warm tap water and dish soap with success, rinsing with clean water, then protecting with Barricade. Usually remove oil with denatured alcohol before loading again.

One of the guys I shoot with advocates using 91% (or even higher proof) rubbing alcohol to remove water after rinsing. This is done before before applying protective oil.

What are your reactions to this idea?

Yep, some like it hot and some like it cold and some like it in the pot nine days old. Well.....uh...:hmm:...I'm not too sure about the part of being in the pot nine days old but I do know that some like it hot and some like it cold. When it is convenient, I prefer my water to be about as warm as you might use to wash your hands and I just used a squirt of Dawn. Nothing special about Dawn, it's just what my wife always bought and what I keep at the kitchen sink. It's handy, it works so I use it.
