Well, from what I can see from your photos & description, it is definately builder error. What I don't understand is how staking it affected it at all, because you stake the dovetail on the top flat on both sides of the dovetail....... this would not affect the bore at all as you are clear on the outside of the barrel. I think ya just got too deep & almost into the rifling & it is paper thin there because of it. Taping the underlug into a tight dovetail in this instant could push the metal in there if it is really thin & possibly what happened. However, again "IF" the barrel had been bored perfectly straight you may not have had a problem at all........

So, I would give Scott Keller a call & tell him what happened & see what he says. The worst he can say is no can't help ya, and ya never know, you might get lucky & he make good on it. He was Very fair with me on a problem I had with a barrel. His tele# 814-632-7513

Zonie thanks for the post here because I am dealing with a slender barrel that is also swamped. Reading your post may just have saved me alot of time and hardship in the coming future.

Birddog...as I've said many times...definitely builder error...in fact I started this thread by saying, "I've really screwed up here". Lesson well learned.

Thanks for your consult...as always i appreciate the guidance. I'll call Scott on Monday. 'Bout time to put this thread to bed for good....Geoff :thanks:
