I'll probably get yelled at over this, but it is what I do. For my 54 caliber I use 10 grains of Goex then 2 50 grain pellets of White Hot. Since my rifle is cap ignition this is a sure fire way to use pellets, reduce fouling and it makes for consist shots, and they are accurate. I like this mix as it allows me to shoot more and clean less. We only have so much time on this earth. My revolvers, 44 and 45 caliber I do the same way. 5 grains of Goex then a 30 grain pyrodex pellet. I would not recommend any other way of using mixed black powder or conventional. Curiosity killed the cat.

I was given some containers of Goex ff and Pyrodex P and S. Hard for me to decipher the difference by just looking at them. The person told me he knew 100% they didn’t have smokeless in them. They came from a buddy that passed away and was an avid bp shooter. Well I took em. Instead of throwing it out, I mixed it all together and used it in my double barrel cannon. Started with 30 gr , packed it tight with paper. It was a weak boom. Went to 40, 50 and finally 60 and got what I was looking for. I also found the more paper the louder the boom. I’m thinking because of the resistance? Went back to 40 and more packed paper. Louder boom. I settled on 1/4 sheet of newspaper and 50 gr of the mix.

The danger: poor accuracy.
I've used "duplex" loads using 3f black powder with Pyrodex and Triple 7 and had no issues. I did it because at the time I had 2f granulations of the two substitute powders to use up and they were giving me farr too many misfires. Putting a black powder starting charge in the bore under the substitute eliminated that problem. Your mileage may vary.
If you are attempting to actually "mix" the two different powders and pour them down the bore as a homogeneous mass, then that is another can of worms... and maybe you don't really want to open that one. I got no idea what could happen.

I have always wondered if this would make shooting Pyrodex or T7 in my percussion guns more consistent, I think I will give it a try. All of my percussion guns have the patent breach, to fill this breach with real FFFG could make good sense.

first thing that came to my mind, was Rube Goldberg! then i started looking for stuff piled behind my shop for parts to build one myself!

i just found an old double 12gauge barrels. now to breach them!
That’s what these were. I cut the ejector part off. Tapped them with a npt pipe threads and used a square head plug. Drilled the holes for the fuse. Mounted it on an old Maytag engine fuel tank frame.
If you plan to hunt, a duplex load will be a pain to load in the field. Possibly opportunity lost.
