I don’t know the date of this photo, but it’s the best one I’ve come across that shows their affinity for Trade Gun dragon side plates. Certainly would be a neat necklace to have.

The more you learn about the blackfeet, the more you realize what a bunch of bad asses they were.

I googled Lacota war chants once and its pretty Erie, no clue about how he got the side plates but them chants are not to be listened to before bedtime!

I've seen that photo before and a later one taken in the 20th century of a old Blackfoot with the same type necklace. Maybe the same guy as an old man.

I have Manitoba Swampy Cree in my heritage and also googled chants from split lake, Manitoba where my ancestors come from. They are very erie for sure. I'm proud to be Metis.

Common with photographers back in day to provide the necessary accruements to properly set up the subject..and noting from above about seeing the same necklace on another Indian makes me believe both the pipe and necklace were props.
