Duh, I KNOW when MY gun fires; I guess I'm just more aware than some.

Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows that the cardinal rule of gun safety is to always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. That excludes one's mouth. It may sound corny to say it, but most accidents happen with "unloaded" guns, no matter how confident the carless person is that his gun is unloaded.
I will keep blowing down the barrel. It takes a pretty DUMB fellow to not know when your rifle has fired. I don't shoot in matches so if I shoot at a Deer and it goes bang and kicks the manure out of me I can pretty well figure it out. I haven't made it to age 65 by being a fool. I like to watch the smoke exit when I blow into the barrel. I have a pretty good idea of what the vent or cap condition is. If it goes bang and kills me at least I had fun doing it for 45 years.

:thumbsup: I've been doing it since the 70s. Is there a case of someone shooting them selfs by blowing down a loaded misfired gun? Even if there is I would bet more people have been killed in car accidents on the way to the range, or had an heart attack , or stoke. If you don't do it that's fine with me, but please don't sit your self on a high horse thinking its safer
Can you say short starter, ball boards, what rifle L&C were carrying , is a .50 or . 54 best& ct,& cg &ct, :haha:

As was proven the last time, the "Blowers" will defend their actions and refuse to be deswaded while the "Don't Blowers" will continue to give their reasons for not doing it.
No one will change their opinions.
Speaking of that "sticky" on the Index page, the reason it's there is because this discussion is endless so there is no reason for it's existence.
For that reason, I'm closing it.
