Bob, sorry about your day. I don't know why he had you go down the road into PA. Maybe the spot in the road isn't safe? A NY trooper can stop you for a seat belt and are strongly encouraged to do so. You could try to fight it or at least send an explanation to the judge. I guess I would get the seat belt fixed and send a note with the receipt to the court. Technically you are guilty so the judge would find you guilty at trial, but you might get a lighter fine with a nice note and proof.
 
i noticed on a website on setbelt violations by state that there is a lower fine but don't understand the way it's worded....almost like if it don't work like in my case it's reduced to a lower fine....i usely wear my belt but when it stops working that another thing i think................bob
