Just wondering ,have tried bore butter and like it ,but now its winter, but how is it in summer ? seems pretty greasy. thank ya'll.

It's all I've used for 15 years, spring, summer, fall, winter.
For the past three years, I've gotten into the routine of shooting almost every Saturday at the range year round...and in the summer months here in NC, temperature / humidity compete for which one can get higher into the 90's than the other...bore butter has been perfect for me whether 98*/98% in July, or 18*/30% in December.

IMO, the biggest mistake that might be made with bore butter is not using enough of it...I buy tubes of it and really plaster it heavily and repeatedly in the bore until I'm convinced every square inch of bore surface is coated.

AND...remember, whatever is put into a bore must come out to avoid buildup, so my cleaning regimen includes steaming hot soapy water + bronze bore brush, a hot water rinse, a bone dry bore, then the heavy coating of bore butter...let's me shoot all I want without wiping between shots, which I really like

We don't really have summer up here, just 9 months of winter followed by 3 months of bad hockey weather. :: Actually, bore butter IS kinda greasy in the hot weather, and I find it unsuitable for extreme cold, too. It is fine at room temperature though! That's why the homebrew lubes are popular-build the lube for the weather conditions YOU are shooting in. Are you looking for a patch lube or a conical lube?

When I loaded up one of my ball blocks that I wear on a neck lanyard the Bore Butter was making a mess of my shirts. That's why I started down the slipper path of formulating my own lubes. I need a lube that is consistant from -20

If it works ok for you in the winter, it should work as good or better in the summer. Where I live in Louisiana humidity is usually pretty high and if using TC Bore Butter I don't have to wipe between shots using Goex, 2F or 3F.

Last weekend, it was cool, dry and windy. If I shot, loaded and shot right away, I didn't need to wipe. If I shot, then went down range, or fiddled around, the next time I loaded it would be difficult running the ball down bore. As long as I shot, loaded and shot again- didn't need to wipe.

I live in Abilene, Texas, and I mainly have been using it on conicals, if anybody lives in TX they know how it is hot as hell one day , and cold the next. I was concerned with it getting hot in the summer and running down ruining my powder. I just recently got bitten by the black powder rifle bug again ,I've already got a couple that I hadn't fired in about ten years ,but I'm particularly fond of the cap n'ball revolvers. So far I'm having alot of fun learning from my mistakes ,main reason I lost interest ten years ago.

Ahhhhhhh...but that's yet another benefit of Natural Lube 1000...no affect on powder what-so-ever.

Another example is Oxyoke's prelubed wonderwads that are made expressly for seating on top of powder...they're saturated with NL1000...
