I have yet to take a deer with my sidelock, but i am still going to try with it. I have friends that have those funny ML's. I don't even pick up one. I am faithful to my sidelock and hope to one day upgrade to a real nice flinter. My friends talk about how fast they can load them for that second shot. I just tell them iffin you hit them right the first time you don't need the second shot.
