Long drawn out build warning here ! LOL ... Gotta have a place to put my pics so I dont lose em on this here dollar store phone . Been wantin to build me a shorter N.W. gun so I had Ken Netting turn me a 36" barrel , 20 ga. Like all of em I'm gonna try and build this gun as inexpensively as possible . I figure I'll have around $550 in it when done but, just a guess ...we'll see . Hate that they have to cost folks so much .... This piece of walnut sure ain't very nice and its pretty thin but its nice and straight ....PLUS ! they gave it to me ! Ive made them out of a HAIR thinner wood but I would not advise it ... This one is 1 3/4" thick . I checked it with the barrel and the lock plate and it will work ...I hope I dont forget to post that procedure ... Very helpful when deciding on thin planks , stock blanks ... So so far in this pic I got $220 in it ... buy a piece at a time , over time ! , so it dont kill ya money wise ...

feel yer pain on the thin plank. the last walnut stock i did started at 1.5 inches! there was No side reduction for the plate and lock.
Barely had enough for a cheek piece. amazingly it turned out nice.View attachment 373706View attachment 373708View attachment 373710
Beautiful ! I can't believe you used such a thin blank and was able to work with it ! Ive used slightly smaller than 1 3/4 " thick but it was darn close at the end of the lock where it flares out from the barrel flare at breech ... but being a NW gun not as tough as a rifle would be ... Gorgeous work !

thank you . it was nip and tuck. I have 2 more of those blanks i need to figure out what to do with.
I will tell you one thing, the sear arm wasn't/isn't very long on that rifle! and the trigger is offset to the right side slightly. need to finish that gun. still need to do the patch box . hawkenhunter50, a member here engraved the brass hinged lid with an Air Force Colonel's Eagle.
