Thanks bud ....was hoping to have measured and cut the L.O.P. and just start on the buttplate but spent an hour looking under the bench for the &%$# d@mn trigger ... Always a &%$# struggle ! ...I'll calm down tonight and make another d@mn trigger , and have to fit it etc. .... Like to have this Fusil with buttplate on and the buttstock in the rough like the short NW trade gun .... I want to forge a trigger guard for the NW gun and get the tang bolt in . We'll see ...

I drilled the front lock bolt ...I put as high as humanly possible ...still no good , gonna have to be notched for ramrod to pass ...d@m it ! I need intense heat to anneal the buttplate but I don't want to start a fire in the house right now or a fire out in the yard , I wish I had coal and the forge in workin shape , as I have the B.P. to anneal and a trigger guard to make for the NW gun , I'd make a couple TG or more ....no sense in wasting coal for one or two items ....but ....nope ....son, gonna maybe inlet a RR pipe on the NW gun and maybe make or at least design a side plate for Frenchy .....we'll see .....

Came into the little town for a coffee break ....scared to death that this buttplate will bolt and run like the trigger did so I'm carrying it with me ! Ain't lettin it out of ma sight !! :)
You’ll have run string around your neck to hook stuff to so you don’t loose it hahaha.😃

Ok ...we need a side plate for the Frenchy . None of my old patterns fit , the Fusil de Chasse is a very dimple pattern but there is absolutely no leeway for thelock bolt space , it either fits or doesn't unlike the NW gun dragon where there is a lot of room for different lengths on the lock bolts ... Do a rubbing or dimply punch the holes , then draw in you side plate looking at a picture of an original, Fusil is an easy one . WALAH !! Pattern is made ... I'll be making the side plate out of the old iron soon ....
