This one is fighting me too ,LOL... They all just want to go back to being a tree :) . I should have had the buttplate on and making the trigger guard today but just got back from a giant flea market they have here twice a year ... Found an old original 20ga. barrel ....
Nice I wish we had more of that kind of stuff around hear but fat chance of that,we gotta go south for it go figure.

It was funny
.. I went just to do something and get out a bit , it ain't far away ....I sure dont need any junk , I'm a bit of minimalist ..So on the way there I. Telling myself " No u necessary junk Rob ' , I'm looking for leather for a belt I want to make , a house jack , any old gun parts ( well over 100 yr.old types )... As soon as I walk in the row of salers there is a leather beltmaker ( leather was too narrow ) and a house jack right by him ! Bit later I ran across a nice feller that had the antique gun barrel I bought , he had two flintlock mechanism s too ! ( cheap o ) .... So strange ...the exact things I said I was looking for ! I got the barrel and house jack ...with parking cost I got out of there with $35 expenditure .... Cheaper than I could have EVER bought a house jack for anywhere else ! Back to work though ....

Mortice back " in the rough " ...very rough ...Wow ! This is some nasty burl $#!+ ! Wished I'd know before , I'd have thrown it in the firewood shed . Its for me so I'll just contend with it since I've come so far with it ... Going g to be a nightmare to cut the comb flutes in this hard @$% $#!+ !! Gonna get this rough in done then work on Frenchy a bit ....

Ok ...here's a big ole weird one
...gotta fix the muzzle end of the forestock . I know a LOT of builders that would leave it like this but $#@&% that . I'm gonna graft a piece of cherry in there . Got lots of scrap around here ...after it cures over night , clapped tight , then I'll cut , shape and barrel gouge that sucker out so I can have a nice shape on the muzzle end of the stock ... This is one weird stock !! Fits my personality I'd say !! :D

I’m already starting to miss being able to immerse myself in a build. But I doubt I’ll ever do a full plank build. Love watching you do it though!

I'm sure no one , including myself , knows what these are or what they are for . Cherry tooth picks made for a cherry stock where someone may have screwed up and drilled a bit too low so they need to plug up the " mistake hole " ... Not that I have ever had to make or use these I'm simply posting this for other mere mortals ...just in case. Use authentic colonial slow set epoxy , tap them in and let set over night , er , uhmmm ....so I've heard :D
