That stock is going to have done definite character when your done, could look sweet. I’d give it some age, little bit of patina on the brass, darken the stock, and you’ll have a nice piece. At least you’ll be able to pick that gun out of a line up.

I just bet you’ll find a way around it @Rob M. !
Thanks bud . I will , ain't the first time but , esp. the Frenchy ....just added days to the build ...I need that thing done ...and the front screw isn't going to work so ...few more days added .....sigh ...

I got her ramrod done ... Bit busy now ( understatement ) but can't wait to get shellac on ole shorty here ....Huh ? I just had a brain f@rt ... its a cherry stock and those nasty cracks that came about ....maybe I should stain her like I did Chris's Carolina Gun ? I'll post a pic of his gun. I dislike staining wood but I think it may make it look better esp . with whatever method I chose the fill or cover the darn cracks .... Hmmmm ........

Not much going on with Shorty lately . I wanna start the finishing phase soon , during some slow times between builds and such , but there are some spots from the crappy wood and also where I had to graft wood into the stock so just started some of that .... Fill them bad spots , take em down later .... After all that I can start final sanding then shellac

I like ol' Shorty. I like it so much I just might have to make me one! Hope you don't mind if I borrow your idea.

By the way, I'm sure the 18th century builders would have used Acra-Glas by the gallons had it been invented at the time.
