Didn't know I was going to start an all encompassing gripe session by reporting that my hide was chapped by Cabelas

10 pages in 7 days... hell that even beats the lube, cleaning and pulling a dry ball debates!
It is winter and folks have nothing better to do than fuss and complain.

They should be casting balls and cutting out patches.

All the ammo that was bought up by the obummer administration was destroyed shortly after the got it. This I found out from a friend that worked at the pentagon. He actually saw the list of ammo and couldn’t believe what the government needed with all the different calibers. Bottom line was they they wanted to keep it out of our hands.

Lancaster Archery Supply. I get my pointy stuff from them now. SM
We have a Cabelas here in the Grand Rapid, Mi. Area. Since Bass Pro took over it has become a joke. The gun department that is. The Gun Library is nothing but a bunch of cheap pump shotgun.. they used to have racks of used long guns on the floor. All gone. I go in there once in awhile but they pretty much don’t have anything I want. I could say more but I won’t

Gentlemen and Ladies, if I might add some perspective from the other side of the Cabela's Gun Counter, I'd say the vast majority of interactions I have with customers are positive. People are happy to be buying a firearm or related item. They understand we have to follow ATF rules. As for purchase limits, my thoughts are that they are designed to allow more customers access to scarce products. In general I'd say if you begin our interaction in a positive manner, it'll be reciprocated. I had one customer who explained to me he'd worked at Lowes over the pandemic time and said he'd noticed the civility of the customers decrease. Perhaps that's true and I try not to add to the problem.

Our local shop has the moniker Guns 'N A__holes , instead of Guns "N Ammo..... But they are unique.... Better these days than before....

Unfortunately a lot of places like the town I live in don't have a mom & pop store. Everything is corporate or big and shiny, and expensive. My protest to this condition is mail order.

I don't base my patronage based on who does or does not give a military discount. Nobody has to, but it is appreciated when they do. Around here if you based your purchases on who gives a military discount, you would starve. Neither Sam's Club, Costco, or Piggly Wiggly give a military discount. I am 90 t0 100 miles from the closest military installation, and Bass Pro is only 12 miles away, so I will crank my Ford F250 Diesel for 5%. Both Home Depot and Lowes have restructured what purchases will and will not receive a discount and this includes lumber.

Hello. I don't shop C's or BP's, BUT I do still get a 10% military discount at Lowes. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Went into Bass Pro over the weekend. Stood at the counter for 10 mins. No one said a word to us.
Evidently you have to use your drivers license and "check in" b4 they will talk to you.
We decided never to go back.

Yep, here goes.

Not too long ago the Lowes 10% discount applied to anything in the store except labor and sales items, but they have changed like many others. In the past, I purchased lumber totaling about $12,000, received the 10% discount, and purchased appliances in the past with the 10% discount, but not anymore. Found out about their discount change when my fridge died and I went to Lowes to purchase another. When I asked that the military discount be applied, the salesman said sorry, that Lowes had changed their policy on appliances. Yes, the discount still applies to many items, but you bet your bottom dollar, I will make sure prior to rolling up to check-out with a big ticket item.

Lowes Military Discount

From their PDF. The total agreement is in the link above. This is just a snippet, but you can read the PDF or check out their site.

"2. What Does the Military Discount Apply To?
The 10% Military Discount can be used everyday on most full-priced product purchases. Exclusions to the Military Discount Program include the following:

(i) It cannot be used on any sale item or with any other discount

(ii) It cannot be applied to major appliances (including related accessories and parts), commodities (such as but not limited to, electrical cable, electrical wire, dimensional lumber, plywood and OSB), gift cards, previous purchases, fees, installations and labor."

Their store, their rules.

Not hard to understand.

How many places offer Military discount on appliances?

Does Bass Pro and Cabelas offer military discounts?

Why do folks complain about the rules of stores?

Why not start your own store with no rules?

Just replying and answering Two Feathers question. A store can and does set any rules they want, but Lowes as well as Home Depot did allow the discount on appliances and lumber until very recently. As for Bass Pro and Cabela's, one and the same, was a 10% discount, but now reduced to a 5% discount.
