Was in the Bass Pro you are talking about (Ann Arundel mall?) just two days ago. I went to the firearms counter (a very long counter) and looked for someone to help me while there were customers standing all along the counter but standing back from the counter just waiting. I asked a customer what everyone was standing around for and one said “waiting for a delivery” (meaning a rifle). I finally drew the attention of a manager and I asked him where the black powder guy was, and he pointed to a guy going through paperwork enlivening a rifle (it was obvious he was going to be awhile, so the manage pointed to the far end of the counter and said “or you go see that guy down there (the entire depth of the store). I was halfway down the counter and the first guy spoke up finally and asked me what I needed, and my inquiry continued. A pretty sorry state of customer support affairs.

The Basspro near me seems to be only interested in selling boats and clothing. Gun inventory in the library non existent and smokeless ammo stock is ok, but black powder stock is limited to a 3’ wide by 5 ft high shelf. No powder, caps, some round balls and that’s about it. I have to order on line and have it shipped to the store for pickup….IF they can find it elsewhere. Ugh.

In some ways I’m not sorry. One of the greatest memories that I’ll ever have was a little girl coming up to me at a town council meeting, hugging me and saying, “Thank you, Mr. Fireman, for saving my Papaw!” after I got him back after a cardiac arrest. My dad served in WWII. He talked about about the “contract“ he signed with American People that could have been written with blood. He told me to treat my fire service as the same contract with my community.

Y2K: I think anyone with common sense knew it was all about money! Most software companies already put out a computer patch so computers would recognize the new century, and most provided the free patch. Most of the software companies already had the update in effect way before Y2K. It was all about billions spent on new computers, and stores of food. That evening I went to bed around 9:00 PM! Told the kids the world isn't ending see you in the morning....slept like a log. Got up the next morning, fired up the computer and went about my business.
Today.....well you just go ahead and have a good laugh...Chuck Manchin is already talking about the problems of a free press and free speech....he ain't the only one....

LOL it's the Hague Convention that deals with what may be used in war. The Geneva accords are for treatment of prisoners of war and civilian refugees, etc. The Hague Convention does not apply unless facing an opposing force from a recognized nation, and that force is in uniform readily recognizable. So..., we can shoot bandits and terrorists in a war zone with HP's anyplace on the planet.

The Kansas City store did the exact same thing to me with BP. Called ahead, clerk on the other end said yep, we got 2F and 3F. Drove 85 miles to find Pyrodex, a snotty sales clerk and a manager that ran away when I wanted to talk to him.

You should see how they are here in Oregon. Due to current wait times with the state police, Cabels is dropping the sale after 30 days and not returning the full payment. The state is over 32,000 deep in background checks.

The grid had been planning for Y2K for a long time before the event. There may have been a few small co-ops that could have slipped through, but, the entire world was already prepared for this event.

years but I like it for the reason that it's located near the most liberal city in Texas. In fact Austin has been called the "San Francisco of Texas".That big store being that close to Austin is like alot of noses being thumbed at "those people". Thats about the only reason I like it though.

I stand corrected. Though actually it was the Hague Declaration III in 1899. The 4 Geneva Conventions incorporated that statement in addition to their 64 provisions. As to the USA, I did learn we did NOT sign the part about expanding munitions so it does not apply to us.
So much for believing what you learn from Military History in college. College, by the way, that happened in the 70's and not today's woke centers of indoctrination.
Finally, let me say that you missed my point...it's the WHY of it...same goes for the IRS -- why do they need weapons at all let alone HP's? You know, it is always so enjoyable an experience to be mocked and made fun of and laughed at in front of a group of your peers while you point out their mistake...Not enough to simply point out the mistake ... gotta be condescending while doing it. I don't base my patronage based on who does or does not give a military discount. Nobody has to, but it is appreciated when they do. Around here if you based your purchases on who gives a military discount, you would starve. Neither Sam's Club, Costco, or Piggly Wiggly give a military discount. I am 90 t0 100 miles from the closest military installation, and Bass Pro is only 12 miles away, so I will crank my Ford F250 Diesel for 5%. Both Home Depot and Lowes have restructured what purchases will and will not receive a discount and this includes lumber.

No military posts near me, but I shop the exchange online fairly often. No tax and free shipping over $49. Bought my gun safe there...was same price as other retailers but no freight cost/tax was significant. All veterans are eligible, so if you haven't yet -I'd recommend checking it out.

They must have been selling something more than ammo. There is no BATF license requirement for selling ammuntition, primers, smokeless powder, or percussion/musket caps; however, you need an explosive license to sell or store for resale of black powder. There may be a city, county, or state law they violated for selling ammunition without some type of local license, but not federal.
