I use Cabela's Blackpowder Revolver Lube to lube my revolvers, and it appears to work well and cleans up easily, but it appears to only be available in the Cabela's starter kit. What is this stuff? Is there similar product I can get without buying another starter kit? Bore Butter, maybe?

For lubing the cylinder arbor, hand/spring assembly, and the 'innards' I use white lithium grease (preferably Lubriplate 650AA) but any old lithium in a pinch. For the cylinder bores, Bore Butter, Crisco, etc works well.

OK, thanks. I have lots of Lubriplate. I use wool wads soaked with Gatofeo's lube in the chambers.

Once you've slathered it up real good with the Lubriplate, I think you'll be pleased with the smoothness of the action, and the longevity of the Lubriplate. It also aids in cleanup by softening the fouling.

The lube that came with my 1858 Remington that I bought at Cabelas looks and smells exactly like Bore Butter.

I'm guessing it's pretty much the same stuff.
