Yeah charlie, people like you are one of the best reasons to avoid the left coast. I won't even buy stuff that comes from kalifornia. Pompus arrogant *****.
not everyone can afford quality products, then again sticks and stones, please continue, ill turn to an unused page,

Its just for a year lol. I am in need of an adventure and I have college friends that live out there. But thanks for the advice/knowledge everyone! Despite Cali's gun laws it seems that black powder guns aren't too much of a hassle. I am coming from Connecticut so slightly confusing/nonsense gun laws are nothing far from experience lol
Unless you are flying, you might want to check the laws of the states that you will be driving through, Or mail it to your friends.

I escaped L.A. two years ago, cant speak to SD other then there are a couple right friendly Muzzleloader groups down that way.
As others stated; within Los Angeles county, Angels Firing Range is your best bet. BP friendly, even had some women show up one day with a Canon (that was a Blast!).
Just north in Canyon County (Santa Clarita) you are out of LA county and a friend we could shoot right off his back porch.

Dont know about today, but two year ago Angels Range always had Goex on the shelf (unlike Nevada were I now have to mail order).
However, CHECK LOCAL LAWS! Different counties have different laws on How Much Powder you can own!! Los Angeles was "1 pound per person"!

I personally will NEVER set foot back across the border...but Yes, please stop by Angels Range and tell them Mad L says "Howdy!" (Angels Range is where my wife and I first met💘!)

That's quite the assortment in your photo! Looks like good times.

You are right about amounts of BP. All of CA is now 1 lb storage per person, but the laws are convoluted (big surprise). Companies will still ship BP here, but it is one's own responsibility to know the laws. It is confusing because you are allowed to TRANSPORT up to 5 lbs without a license, but it appears that individuals are allowed to store only 1 lb in their residence at a time. Silly, because most of us use at least two different granulations of powder.

Luckily, the cops/feds aren't just going door to door with search warrants. Yet.

HUSHSHshsh!!
It ain't 2024 yet!!

Yes, that was a good day. I took one of my daughters and two grand daughters that day (that's why so many). Three generations shooting black powder - the Range Safty folk seemed to get a kick out it.

As an ex CA i feel for those friends and family who are still there. It was only after we left we discovered how bad it really was.

FWIW heard just now that what was our million plus property in El Dorado county is now virtually worthless as it cannot be insured due to wildfire hazards.

Thanks for all the info guys! I am a little encouraged. It seems not as bad as I thought (certainly not good) but workable lol.
Trust me, as one who was born and raised there - it Has become as bad as you thought, perhaps even worse.
As a field tech who has driven every freeway from Mexico to Simi Valley and 90% of every road there - it is actually worse then anyone who has not been there can imagine.
...but, it was not always that way 😥

My wife, youngest daughter and I went there in 2001. Visited Yosemite, Sequoia, and Monterey Bay Aquarium. Took a guided tour San Francisco. It was fun while it lasted, but I sure wouldn't do it again.

Used to be a treat to take kids to Pier 39, the parks and museums. Now its PG 13+. Big conventions won't go there as they deem the SF areas as unsafe. Just the sights and smell are repulsive. If you do go consider throwing car mats and shoes away,

Guided Tour through San Francisco??
So they stopped updating to Mobil poop app and now it requires a Guide to get through safely??!!

On a lighter side, my family used to go there yearly on way to the State Fair.
It used to be a wonderful trip...until around 1976 when a cop came calling upon my father.
You see, my father was a professional magician (Magic Castle, whole nine yards); when they caught the guy dubbed "The Freeway Strangler" (murdered several teenagers, all blond, around 15-16 years of age), they found my father's magician business card on the Strangler...turned out he was a Street Magician who performed in the park in San Fran. My father had seen him and they exchanged business cards.

...I was 16yr at the time, blond hair, blue eyes and did a lot of hitch hijing. - my name was hand written on the back of the card.
I NEVER hitch hiked again....

That's chilling!

Not sure if it is a state law or city ordnance (such as LA) but copies of historical pieces such as a Colt 1860 Army are not considered modern firearms and do not require special permits or transfer through an FFL dealer but pistols such as the Ruger Old Army are classified as "a Modern" firearm and have same restrictions as any cartridge pistol. I think this also applies to certain models with cartridge conversion cylinders.

My wife and I got a good laugh at your post! I hope you don't mind if I give your statement some extra play? LOL!
Go for it Brother, not really my words. I think I got that from my older cousin Bobby when he moved out of kali. He also said "All the cowboys are gone" in kali. He was sad about it. Bobby was a real cowboy.
