Call the local WalMarts and ask if they have reloading components. Percussion Caps are listed as reloading components in their inventory…so the WalMarts that have reloading components should also carry percussion caps.Same in Dallas TX
If you can get someone to answer the phone. The stores near me don’t pickupCall the local WalMarts and ask if they have reloading components. Percussion Caps are listed as reloading components in their inventory…so the WalMarts that have reloading components should also carry percussion caps.
No kidding…and most of the time, the person working the department has NO CLUE what is even in the department. If you can get someone to answer the phone. The stores near me don’t pickup
Look like you got the last three glad you scored
…saw the empty slot in the background did ya? I grabbed my dad, and headed over. He’s been looking for percussion caps longer than I have been…so he got 3 and I got 3.Look like you got the last three glad you scored
No caps at my local Walmart…and we can’t get any caps at a WalMart in Colorado…
Absolutely correct! If you are shooting thousands of rounds a year, you need thee supplies, period. But ,if you are buying just to squirrel it away, not shooting a lot, and then sell and $$ gouge your neighbors and others who can not fine any supplies, YOU are not only Hoarding, but you are a despicable person too.(IMHO)PPL's inability to see most things from more than one perspective is a big problem regarding this " Hoarding " subject IMHO.
I use to shoot just between trap/skeet/sporting clays, around 8k 12ga rounds a yr. Thats not including all the hunting of multiple species that I regularly did.
Sooooo, is buying my shells 400-500 at a time " hoarding "? NO! Its NOT!
When I had a bunch of semi auto CF's with extended mags, it was pointless to break any of them out without less than 500-600 rounds to burn. Sooooo, is buying my ammo 1000 rounds at a time " Hoarding "? Absolutely NOT!
Before my health & finances started seriously hindering my life, & the amount I shoot my muzzleloaders, from my ROA pistol to my sidelocks or my BP shotgun, BH 209 inlines & smokeless customs, I have a range in the back yard & shooting 6-8lbs of powder or more in a yr was " normal " along with hundreds & hundreds of primers, caps, wads, bullets, sabots etc.
Soooo, is buying a cpl hundred bullets & a brick of primers & 5-10lbs of numerous types of powders, is that " Hoarding "? Heck NO!
Now all the guys that hunt 4-5 times a yr., hit a range or the farm to target shoot once or twice a yr or every few months shoot a few rounds......... those guys buyin bricks of primers, 10lbs of powder, 1000 bullets, 5000 wads & sabots, is that " Hoarding "? Ya DANG RIGHT IT IS!!! Guys buyin up everything they can get their greedy little paws on to only auction them off on places like Gun Broker ARE part of this big problem & I'm not gonna get started on how the corporate world is bendin us all over the ole moss covered log.
Theres more ways to see things than ONE.
I agree.
Regarding hoarding of powder & caps....I picked up 16 tins of caps recently at 2 different Walmarts. I already gave away 2 of those tins I picked up last weekend. Also...shooting 3-4 days a week & allowing my friends and lots of new shooters the opportunity to shoot them too, the 1600 caps I bought will all be gone by Christmas 2022.
I don't see that as hoarding.
Good score, awesome post. I appreciate your sense of humor & I share your fondness for a good micro brew as wellDing Ding Ding.......Score. So today I had to do some shopping at some stores. One of them was my local Greeley Walmart Im not a regular at Walmart because I hate the place. So I decide to hit the one on the north side of Greeley. They had zip nada caps. They dont even get any. I had checked Brick seek as I posted earlier in this thread. None in the area according to that. I asked the guy at Walmart about ordering some. Assist store manager said nope we dont carry those or any other reloading stuff. But he said Timanth store has 9 in stock. Hmmm Brick seek says none. So I decided to take a ride. I had my doubts but I was surprised to see the box under lock and key at the Timnath store. He says how many you want I said how many can I have he says 3 is the limit. So I hoarded 3 and left. Its a ways to drive for 3 so I hoarded 15 gallons of gas stopped at the micro brewery in Windsor and hoarded 2 4 packs of some beer they brewed up for the local bike trail and came home. Ill be happy in a short while havin a cold one.
they just set up there display here in Georgia, no telling how long they will be available. I had the same problem last year with 209's for my inline…and we can’t get any caps at a WalMart in Colorado…
I laugh every time I see one of these responses about "Hoarding", like you or someone a 1,000 miles away are going to be effected by someone buying a thousand caps or 10 lbs of powder. Tell me how someone in Mississippi or Alabama buying every cap in stock at their local Walmart is going to affect somebody in Podunk, Iowa? If you want to complain about hoarding, go talk to a Mormon.
I hope you did what I would of done.I'm on vacation and found some in Wesley Chapel, Fl. Wal-Mart. The guy behind the gun counter told me to buy them all, he said no one would buy them and didn't really know why they had them. They were $5.32 a can. They didn't have a display they were sitting on top of the shelf behind the gun case near some .22 bullets.

Ok Ill bite Ive seen quite a few videos on this and I havent seen one where there is a 100 percent ignition on caps made with roll caps without doubling them up or using a few granules of BP to help them along. Do you have a receipt that is any better or maybe some links as to what you are using for roll caps ect.Cap maker: About $45, roll of toy cap gun ribbons (1000 count, need one for each percussion cap), about $8, soda or beer cans, practically 0$,
