Thought I'd show a couple of pics of a powder horn I made for my Father in law. He'll get it Christmas Eve at our house.

The saying on one side is "Of all the ruels ye must recall powder first then the ball". On the opposite side of the horn is some of my daughters art work; a cougar poised in mid step, staring off into the distance, possibly at a hunter.

So. I am to assume that we will be meeting "Dad in law" at an upcoming shoot?

That is a REALLY nice horn Scott! Would this be #6?
I told just last week, you were going to become well known!

for those of you that dont know...I have #5!, a gift from Scott to prime my trade gun with.
#5 and signed by the maker and dang proud to own it!

Thank you all for the kind words. McKutzy, the black is mostly the natural coloration of the horn. I helped it out with RIT dye, brown with some black added. Brett, yes this is horn number 6. I'm finishing up #7 right now. You've probably met my father in law. He came up the first time we visited Forest Hills. I'm going to have to get him to come back and shoot some...

Well my Father in law received his horn last night. I told him that I had made him something that I thought he would like. He had an idea of what it might be; everyone had been in the library admiring the muzzleloaders in the rack and my other horns. Bob, took his time bringing the horn out of the gift bag and when he unwrapped it all he said was "Oh my!" He told me that it will reside in a place of honor with his original BP shotgun. :)
