Hello All.

What do you guys like to use to clean old brass, but not polish, per say ? Thanks for your suggesstions.

I use plain old Brasso. You can start out with a dark green patina and depending on how determined you are, bring it back to 'as new', or anything in-between.

Never Dull. It looks like a big wad of cotton fiber. It comes in a can. It has an almost stale kerosene odor. It works great. Tear off a small piece ball It up, rub it all over the piece to be cleaned. Rub vigorously over really tarnished areas. Allow an almost film to form, kindof like using car wax. Then buff to a shine with a dry cloth.

I like my brass to look new and this stuff does the trick.

Use vinegar! It is fast with no rubbing. You do have to rinse with water quickly or it will turn dark on you and you will have to do it again.

Cap and Ball YouTuber did a video on cleaning his rifle brass after shooting black in them.
Hot water and Oxy-clean if I remember, it was a couple of years ago When the fizzing stopped it was clean.

Old 18th military mix : "White of Spain" or "Blanc de Meudon" (fine chalk powder in fact), a bit water or natural oil, brush with natural strong bristles (tooth brush can do that), and when it is like you want : rinse with clean water and drying...
If the brass is too dark : vinegar in first...

WHAT ? ? Clean the brass & lose 35 years of patina ? Not me !

FWIW, I've only ever just wiped the brass on these with a cloth.

Try a small amount of catsup on a paper towel, wipe on, wait a minute wipe/rub off. Then wipe with damp paper towel, dry & coat with oil.
