Just looked at the CVA online store and foudn a wierd product. Its called "Barrel Blaster Wonder Gel Solvent" and is labeled as a good ammonia based gel type bore cleaner for any gun.
Lots of people have browned a barrel with ammonia based chemicals, but isnt this ammonia going to destroy the bore of your gun whether its a $80 dollar inline to a $1200 custom longrifle?

There are other cleaners for black powder rifles that use ammonia as one of the base items in the mix. I think Butch's Bore Shine has ammonia in it. Excellent cleaner for black powder. The whole thing is you are not going to be leaving that cleaner in the rifle. After its use you will then wipe the bore clean and re-seal it with an oil protective coat.

Ammonia is an excellent dissolver of copper fouling in rifled barrels, and doesn't seem to harm barrels unless it is abused. My problem with its use in muzzleloaders is how much copper fouling is present in a rifle that uses prbs or even sabots? :what:
