This is a CVA Colonial style pistol my dad bought back in the 80s but never finished. I decided to use it for a practice pistol for learning engraving, in letting, carving, and finishing. Give me your criticism or compliments, I thrive on bothe equally. thanks mike

Now that there is a gun with some awesome workmanship. Way to ornate fer my taste but fer a feller that liked that sort a thing it is a one of a kind. Nice work

Wow!! That's really nice. So nice in fact you could wear it to weddings, and other fancy shenanigans! Great job.

That`s really nice :hatsoff: I especially like the way ya did the octagon to round thing with the barrel
The one I`ve got does`nt look anything like yours. I built mine as a 10th grade shop project. It looks like it too :haha:

Certainly is unique.

Next time if you hit "Enter" between posting pic's which creates a space between them, they will post in a nice line one on top of each other.

Nice work! Now, if you are looking for more practice,I could send you a couple of guns....Emery

What did you do to the barrel to give it that swirly look?

Not sure, but it looks like it may have been acid etched.

It kind of looks as if it's a Damascus barrel, I like it.

Now that is some pretty fine work..makes me wonder
just what you could do from scratch..I am inter-
rested in the barrel treatment..very good. Can you
explain?? You definately have a talent..Wulf

Looks to me like a very well controlled mustard finish?
I've tried it before, but I always end up smearing the mustard on pretzels...which leads to beer...and then more beer...so on.

I can't imagine that a CVA pistol has ever been so proud. Nice work!

Well since you asked first I'll respond to you first, Mr Gray called it, it's mustard. I streaked the barrel with mustard, let it sit for a couple days and oxidize under the mustard then, once I thought it had rusted enough I used a small spray bottle filled with gun blue and sprayed it on the barrel over the dried on mustard. After about 5 minutes I washed everything off with dish soap and water, and then I oiled it. I think if I ever do it again I will let the mustard sit for a couple weeks to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks Swamp Rat I will do that. As a matter of fact see my antler floding knife coming up real soon.

Emery, I would be interested in discussing with you your proposal, if you were serious. Mike.

I gotta couple extra bottles of mustard to help you out with your van but for sanding off all the paint...you're on your own.
