I wouldn't go above 40 of 3f. You can't "overload" a blackpowder revolver but at a certain point you're just needlessly beating the gun up.
The service charge was 30 grains of 3f under a Dragoon bullet. Mine shoots awesome with 30 grains of 2f and a .454 conical .
