If you mean Jurgen Kreckel, he is still alive. He retired from gun making years ago and is into photography now. I own one of the last if not the very last Matchlock Musket he ever built. No ,this is a USA matchlock , 20 ga, made by Jurgen Krakel , now deceased . It is a very simple lock but it works well .

Rudyard told me he was deceased , I have now sold my Matchlock as I have no need for it and the area where I live is too dry to hunt or even range shoot with a matchlockIf you mean Jurgen Kreckel, he is still alive. Oh Ive heard about them ,Next thing to Druids or fluids ? since it does have a cup .Some local fellow made a few of them .Its said the rising cost of flints & copper caps drove him too it and he wandered the mountains in his delirium .A sad case but I understand he's getting counseling for his affliction or maybe its the Council getting after him in their delirium and they who be should be afflicted . Some thing like that .Regards RudyardLong live 'The brotherhood of the burning rope'!!
Looking good!Got the barrel and tang inlet about as good as I'm gonna get. It's a Rifle Shoppe English style matchlock kit. I had them do the Barrel channel and ramrod hole, as I don't have the skill or desire to do that part. It's got a Colerain octagon to round, .775 smoothbore barrel. Barrel measures right around 46 inches long.
The next job is to install, then inlet the barrel tenons.
This is going to be a left handed matchlock. The only left handed matchlock I've ever seen. Enjoy.

Dear Dunk . How is a matchlock any more fire risk than a flint lock ? Ive never seen '' No smoking' signs in the bush or on a Doc permit .Never ask them anything as they will ask some donk what he thinks and run with that .The PHD sorts are just twig & tweets nothing like the old NZFS who where proper bushmen. mostly ex cullers .Who could build a hut for half of nothing and not be flying in coal for loopiesRudyard told me he was deceased , I have now sold my Matchlock as I have no need for it and the area where I live is too dry to hunt or even range shoot with a matchlock
