I put a Crocket Riflt on hold at the Sportsmans Ware House. It has about a 45 pound trigger pull, what else am I going to run into on this thing. It was a good price and I like the looks and feel, one of those hard to pass up things.

I've had lots of lock issues with mine, but so far Traditions has not bothered to answer any of my four emails to their warranty/repair department. Friends report fair service over the phone after some argument, but I'm too leaked off right now to be civil to anyone on the phone.

There's also the problem with cleaning patches on standard jags getting stuck due to poor geometry between the patent breech and the bore. Well documented, cussed and discussed here on the forums if you do a Crockett search.

L&R Locks has replacement locks for Traditions at $90 a pop, and I'll probably go that route rather than deal with Traditions again. I'm certainly not buying any more of their products.

you have to call traditions. They fixed my lock when a screw got stripped out.

Does the lock have a screw so you can adjust the trigger? If not, just buy a new tumbler and that will allow you to adjust the trigger to your liking. Its only like $8 for an adjustable tumbler.

Barrel rusting problem despite thorough cleaning just wanted to rust. Excellent ignition though. Not accurate much past 25 yds maybe thats all a .32 is capable of. alot of fun overall. except for rusting.

I had a shotgun once that would not quit rusting, I had to treat the barrel the same way you do a cast iron skillet. That stopped the rusting.

I had a friend that had a Crockett rifle. He never could get it to shoot straight. He is dead now, but at least I can't blame the gun for that.

Many Klatch

The 2 i had were both tack drivers. I was getting sub 1" groups at 50 yds. I killed a coyote with one of them at over 150 yds. They do have a tendancy to hang up the jag and patch in the breech area. Use a patch on a brush for cleaning. Other than that, i had no complaint about mine.

I use real black powder in mine. I noticed it fouls up pretty quick. I then switched from lubed .010 patches to the thinner .005 lubed patches. I still need to use a ball starter, but it is much easier to load. I messed up my brass entry thimble trying to enlarge the hole. I called Traditions and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. :)

I bought a Crockett 3 years ago and never had any problems with it, Shoots 1" groups at 50 yds.
Sweet little rifle! I am browning the barrel this evening! It is hard for me to believe all the negative posts about the crockett.....
I love mine...............

I sure hope you don't have any problems with your
rifle.

My Crocket has never given me any problems at all.

Mine won't shoot 1" groups @ 5o yds. I might have get out there and try a little tweeking.

The patent breech is a pain - but so what -
It is no sectet that it is in there and they are a littie harder to clean.

As far as rust goes, after I switched to Ballistrol, rust, on any gun is a thing of the past.

The stuff is amazing.

Basically I offer this : THINK POSITIVE

The crocket is a good little gun.

You should have a lot of fun with it.

started a new thread with pics of new peep on my crockett. i make take mine out tomorrow after work.

chapter,
Did you mean 45# trigger pull or 4 or 5 # trigger
pull? If indeed it is #45 send it back to Sportsmans Warehouse because something is FUBR.
I have a Crockett and have never had a serious problem with it. Had a cleaning problen at the beginning, but after a few rounds and a few cleanings all was resolved.Trigger pull is I would guess at 2 1/2 to 3 pounds.
I'm with scalper!
snake-eyes :v

I agree Chapter. Mine suddenly developed a heavy trigger pull after a year, plus the effort required to pull back the hammer really went up. I started removing the side plate to see what was going on and the spring blew out of the opening in pieces, also taking out a good sized chunk of wood from the front of the mortise. I've found some other problems with the lock, too.

It's a fun gun and I've restored the stock. But I'm through dealing with Traditions and will replace the lock with an L&R. I'm planning to strip and clean up the stock, then stain it very dark and antique the brass.

Feels like 45 pounds, simple fix. I shot one a couple weeks ago. That one was a great shooter. It wasn't to difficult to clean, I'm just spoiled on hooked breaches.
