Because that's all you are comfortable placing shots out to or because you aren't confident your ball will perform well enough?

I like to hear about penetration and deformation of RBs. I've asked what was bought to be the point at which a soft lead ball isn't likely to mushroom, and was told about 800 fps.

Well I got the lock back in solid and snug. I had to do a number on my wonderful finish in a couple spots but it is a shooter again. He still looks good, but no longer pristine. :(

The funny thing is, I was messing with it and working on it for a couple hours being careful as can be to not screw it up. That lock still wouldn't seat tight. Eventually, I got frustrated and fed up and decided to put it all back together and deal with it another day. Well don't ya know the thing went together tightened up and is now good to go!
YAY!

I might just sell this thing off after that adventure!

"I would trust this pistol out to a max of 30 yards..."

Is that because the groups open up too much beyond this or that you are uncertain as to the ball's performance past this point?

Good to hear you were able to get it back together!

I only feel comfortable at 30 or closer because that is the max range I am practiced at.
I would guess that 50 yards would be max effective range for an ethical kill. I will not find out though. I won't shoot it past 30 at game.

That's much better than I'm doing now with my Old Army, which seems to say a lot about me as many claim these pistols shoot as well as their target pistols.

For me to feel comfortable I insist on a 4" group or smaller, and I was trying for this at 25 yds. I'm not there yet...

I try to get to the range once a month or so. I'm hoping to create more time/opportunities though.

I intend to hunt with it to 25 yds one of these days!

My general outcomes at this range have been ~6" groups, but with a flier or two that could possibly open it up to 9-10" or so, which makes it quite unsuitable. If I could get 6" groups consistently I might try it, but being that I have a bit of wobble, need glasses, and am obviously having some other issue, I cannot. So for now it's a defensive pistol in case I have to track a wounded hog or some such.

I got over the worst of my ailments, which was recoil anticipation and pulling. I noticed it when I tried CCI #11 mag caps, which misfires often. Now I (usually) am much more aware of my trigger squeeze and being relaxed, which has helped quite a bit.

I am very disillusioned with the CCI caps. Every time I use them I have issues. I have a few tins left, but they aren't being used. I have moved onto the Remington #10's and I have not had issues with them.

I bought nipples from ToTW, and they state they were designed with using CCI #11's in mind. My original nipples misfired often, which is why I replaced them. But I didn't realize there was a difference between #11 and #11 mags.

I, too, have found Rem #10's to work very well. No problems yet (~100 shots), and it works on my rifle as well, though it eats all of them so far (Rem #11, Rem #10, and CCI #11 mag).

I would like to try standard CCI #11's if I can find just one tin. And I guess I'd try CCI #10's and the RWS as well just to know figuring I could use them on my rifle if they fail.
