For stripping, I used Citristrip (indoors) and it worked great. Believe me: if I can do it, you can do it better.

The rear sight is a CVA Kentucky rifle one I bought from Deer Creek; tapped it right into the existing dovetail. Front sight is from Track.

I took off the Spanish color case hardening and applied cold blue, rubbed back. Did that to the tang too.

I'm impressed how you took a birch (?) stock and made it to look so much like maple. Pretty dang nice. I have a Pedersoli Frontier or an Investarms Hawken that is begging to be striped now thanks to you! I wonder how that would look on walnut? Good job! Greg. :)

Walnut would look fine. The only thing I've heard, without having any personal experience, is that too heavy an application of aqua fortis (as the base coat) can turn walnut black. Perhaps someone who knows can chime in. There are other ways to get a pleasing base color anyway; perhaps no stain works well on walnut, just stripes and oil? Hopefully someone will give some pointers with this aspect as well.

Wandering what was the final process you did on the stock? Did you use wax?

Not usually a fan of such contrast but that really came out well.

Don't do anything else to it!
