That is not my experience. A coupla friends and I tried pyrodex when it first came out. We all clean our guns well and oil with good quality gun oils. Each of us experienced heavy after rust that required another thorough cleaning to remove. The rust in Leo's gun became so common, that he named that gun "old Rust." That rust disappeared, after a few range sessions of shooting black powder, once we convinced him to switch to black.
Pyrodex is a perchlorate based powder. That perchlorate residue is extremely corrosive.
