I am currently building a 54 caliber but its percussion. I agree, looks a lot like the CVA. I asked them about it and was told it is American Made and the wood is maple. I took the stock to Woodcrafters, near where I live, and they said the stock looks like maple. Lock is about average for type of kit, hammer had to be bent a little. I previously built a Deer Creek 50 caliber American Pistol that shoots well and I am told the barrels on the rifles are accurate. I'll know for sure pretty soon. Deer Creek is an authorized CVA dealer, as far as changing the buttom type hooks, etc, although the kit we are talking about is a hooked breech.
Am I happy? Yeah, I guess. I may get their 50 caliber Amwerican pistol in Flint and jazz it up a little.
