Yes, remove the lock for cleaning. Disassembly of the lock is not necessary especially since the GPR lock uses a coil mainspring.
When reinstalling the lock remember that you are installing a metal lock plate into a wood stock. You only need enough pressure to hold the lock in the stock and close the gap between the lock and the barrel. Snug is tight enough. Don't tighten the lock with a lot of force. You will crush the wood. The lock internals may rub against the wood and slow the lock.
