I think some of ya'll need to get up off of the couch and go spend some time in the woods. Maybe it will help clear your heads. :haha:

The way I read this thread tells me an awful lot about those within...some of us go into the woods to hunt and some go into the woods for other reasons...as for me I hunt with what I want (under the law) and don't really care if you agree with me on my choice of weapon or the differing ways I choose to pursue game, and if I decide to take a running shot on game it's because I know I can make the shot...this again is really none of your business...I'll match my kills against yours any day of the week! Oh Oh..did I say kill....maybe I should have said "harvest" as to not offend anyone!!! :blah:

You talkin to me. You just said gramp taught me well now why you got your panties in a bunch. Besides a person harvests potatos, a person kills sentient beings. I dont suger coat nothing. We should not go into comparing kills or the size our wedding tackle. I have nothing to prove either way. :blah:

No way Shine...this was not aimed at you...just used your post to jump in! Your view point is refreshing to see in these here modern days of hunt'n...seems like there are those who think their view of hunt'n should be adhered to by everyone, well that won't float water with me...I go into the woods to hunt and kill game...period! Do I enjoy the whole experience, yes especially the hunt'n part but also the kill as well...killing is part of the whole experience, we can not sugar coat this for those who are opposed to killing game! Hunting is not a mystical experience as some would like to believe...it's a barbaric form of putting meat on the table...period!

Only problem I have with you is: you gonna eat that whole turkey yourself! :rotf: :rotf:

i knew what happend. i had to use my best de niro. i wont mention the columbia county venison im having for supper. i get around.

Did you read the whole thing I told you I shoot them on the ground.I dont even flush the toilet.

Oh, yes, I gotcha with no problem. Hence my post.

Talking flint guns only, now, it makes no more sense (to me) to make a bird fly before shooting at it than it does making a deer run before shooting at it. Oh, I'll take those running/flying shots if they're pretty close and I pretty much know I can hit them. Otherwise I look for the easiest and closest shot I can manage. This goes without saying. Short of tying up or trapping a critter so it can be shot I don't begrudge anyone their method.

so why are you saying i flush birds and make deer run. i said no such thing. you do realize we agree one hundred percent on hunting methods. i can read your posts. i am speaking engrish right.

:shocked2: At first I thought I didn't understand the point of this whole string, now I'm sure of it.

You ever tried getting a po"ed Coon out of a trap? Give me a gun Please. It's the humane thing too do. Lol

"You ever tried getting a po"ed Coon out of a trap?"

A kid who had trapped a coon had his mother feel sorry for it, and opened the cage to set it free. She had to jump the fence to get away from it! Bet she never touched the trap after that!

I go around to a few different sporting forums, it seems about the same on all of them now. everyones a bit cranky, think its the between seasons. some of it here may be that you cant just reply to a post on general, you seem to have to pick a previous post. when you read through it all, then just reply to the last post. the last poster seems to come back thinking he was somehow dubbed. Im guilty myself. guess were all a bit "off" at the end of the season :hmm:

"...you cant just reply to a post on general..."
Correct...that particular design element makes it a chronic exposure for the immediately previous poster to mistake a reply as being directed at them.
A reply could be in the process of being typed as a direct reply to a post right above it, but by the time the typing is finished someone else could have added a post in between, etc.

Shame that automatic line item "[in response to (previous posters name)]" couldn't just be eliminated.

Read my posts again, shine. We DO agree and that was my point. I was basically describing WHY you and I do the same thing. Using a flintlock is not a handicap, IMHO, they do just fine. Conversely, imposing handicaps not consistent with the technology - I respect those who can really shoot - and my lack of skill makes no sense to me. Agreed? :surrender:
