Yes I personally know two brothers that run two separate guns shop that are, successful long standing gun shops, one sells BP the other doesn't. The one that sells the BP gets checked twice as much then as the other and its mainly to check the books on the BP.

Tinfoil hats with two radio wave scrambling crescent shaped horns crossed will protect you from any government monitoring. SOP. And they will also look pretty cool and blend in at most UFO conventions as long as you don’t use your credit or debit card when booking the event. Also make sure you only possess and use a burner phone to avoid GPS tracking. And stay away from WallyWorld…. hear they are worst.

BP is MUCH MORE EXPLOSIVE than Smokeless powder. Could be they also get checked for proper storage? Also, quick check by the owners to see if you're "of age"? You buy 100 pounds in a short while and you're damn sure gunna get looked at. That and 500 pounds of fertilizer.

lets see, School bus driver, FBI vetted and finger print collected.
Grunt. vetted and finger printed
Deputy Sherrif , FBI vetted and state and county vetted and finger printed.
FFL holder, FBI vetted and state and county vetted and finger printed.
Repented Attorney, vetted and finger printed
ccw vetted and printed
i would say "they" know all they need to about me and I am on multiple lists.
and i agree, having seen and used some of the amazing technology that we are data mined continuously.
i refuse to lose sleep over it.
.
Not to mention license to carry, licensed to drive an automobile and ex-military, home owner registered voter and in this day and age an avaid user of the internet and Googler by smart phone. Did I miss any thing?? Oh ya, an Amazon.Com shopper. I hung up the tin foil hat decades ago.

They are called data collection centers and are being built everywhere. The purpose is not so you can have faster internet. Data collection centers. Massive chiller/chilled water piping systems to rival anything you've ever seen. More cooling capacity than has ever been needed in large solid concrete buildings with high security measures in place. Not a conspiracy theory. I work on the equipment doing insulation so it runs efficiently. Nowhere else has ever had this type of cooling capacity due to the heat generated by the data storage equipment. ALL phone conversations and other forms of communication including emails are being screened by AI devices and recorded if deemed a possible threat. Be careful what you say, they are listening. I didn't believe it at first but you better believe what I'm telling you is true. I have work to do at an Apple facility next week. I've seen the equipment running in the pods. The place is like a rat maze with nothing but room after room filled with data processing equipment. Not a rumor or internet myth. Fact, Jack!

Dave I am not so sure , yes there is a data base, example the shop I purchase from for both the muzzleloaders and un-mentionables prior to even getting to payment wether cash or debit card (I do not have or would use a credit card) first thing they want is a drivers license they will scan the code on the back of the license, Yes I believe they are looking for flags but I also believe it is for a record of purchases related to firearms. And I am not refrencing weapon purchases this happens for cleaning supplies it does not mater what is purchased. Then goes the payment issue as I always use cash the point being it is allready in the base so it really would not matter the method of payment. Is this a requirement of the business perhaps but I do not think so reason being I dealt with this establishment for years and this is a program that has just started with in the last 2-3 years or so. When I questioned the business on this issue I was told it is kept as a permenant information system on all purchases from each buyer. So leads me to believe there is a national registery of all things related to weapons of all types, Are there businesses that does not do this I am sure there is for now but would wager not for much longer.

There is YES a difference between "scanning" your ID and the clerk keeping an old-school log book of black powder sales. The LGS where I worked we did the latter. You pay online with a credit card for the bulk shipment of BP, and the information is noted or may be data mined. You drive to the vendor, who takes cash and does not record you being there (and your cell phone is off or left at home) and there is much less chance of the sale ending up in a computer data base....

..., of course there's always physical surveillance of shop that takes cash, and you likely wouldn't know...,

Fact true enough. But the entire nation is run by computers. Every business from the mom and pop corner store to the largest corporate entity all connected by the network. Every town and city government, millions of folks working from home now, so the majority of homes too all connected.
Google sh-t and a thousands hits will light up the screen.
So, being a pessimist here but that just might have something to do with those massive data centers and their servers.
Can one even imagine the servers run by Amazon or Walmart alone!!!!

Ummm. Maybe there is an explanation that does not require assumptions some would consider 'paranoid'. Have you read about the LARGE amount of money Remington ultimately AGREED to pay victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting? If I was the attorney advising or an insurance company insuring any gun shop that sold gunpowder or blackpowder, and I knew there was a legal limit on possession by individuals, I would be telling every owner of Mom and Pop BP shooters shops to keep a journal of BP sales and ask for/record ID, EXACTLY like the pharmacies do if you want to buy sudafed (which is used to make methamphetamine). This not only provides documentary proof of your efforts to monitor BP sales for 'excessive' amounts to a single buyer, it also has the practical effect of discouraging buyers from seeking to buy excessive amounts, at least from you. That way, when some lunatic blows up a school bus, it doesn't cost that mom and pop BP shooters shop $73 million. When in doubt...follow the money.

If you have a smart phone you have already reached the pinnacle of being observed. 2000 mules. Interesting.
True but features such as Sat Tracking can be turned off as can the phone. So for those that such is a concern it’s an alternative.
Although some will say even powered down the phone is still”on”. I’d doubt that myself.

Don't forget the RFID blocking wallet.

i attend a lot of estate sales and auctions. These crazy Okies often bid two or three times the worth of a firearm in order to obtain an "unregistered gun"-idiots.

i've dealt with the BATFE and its predecessor organizations on numerous occasions, beginning in 1959; when, as an Army EOD guy, my buds and i blew up moonshine stills for the Alcohol and Tobacco Division of the US Treasury Dep't.

IME: The BATFE of today is very professional. Until recently i held an explosive users permit and explosive storage permit with the BATFE. i kept a database of every explosive item received and its disposition. Once or twice per year the BATFE agent would inspect my records and, infrequently, the explosive storage. Never ever had a problem with the BATFE.

People who get into trouble with the BATFE are those who refuse to abide by the regulations. Rogue FFL dealers who sell guns in obvious straw sales or sales to known felons deserve to lose their license.

No, the BATFE does not keep a database on small black powder sales. Yep, idiots who jump on the internet and make threats of blowing stuff up are likely to be closely observed, as they should be.

As a US Army EOD master sergeant In 1979, i had a rodeo with a corrupt BATF station chief and his thieves. Someday i will open a thread on that experience. The BATFE of today ain't like those guys.

BTW: We are currently in the second black powder percussion cap panic. Got caught short by the first panic. Luckily i found an OK store with hundreds of thousands of Remington and CCI #11 caps for sale at $2.99 per hundred; bought a big bunch; still have a big bunch. i put others on these boards onto that store and they sold out.

Talked recently with a gent who is the gun counter man for a large sporting goods store. Early each the week #11 caps and 209 primers are put on the pegs. First guy to see the caps grabs them all.

Those little jump drives that plug into a usb port on your computer? They are FAST because they are solid state storage. I have read that government has jump drives the size of semi trailers and just as fast as your little drive.

Back in the early 90,s when I got my first Phone...it was Brick with an antenna on it. I said then to my co-workers..."these things in the future will be handcuffs on Freedom" They all came together with a conclusion that I was "nuts". Well.....I guess I still am.....

A few years back there was a TV program called "person if interest" very interesting and "fiction" at the time ?

As for everything being controlled / accessed / monitored by computer systems, may I suggest a search for
a history of the "Carrington Event" and ten ponder the "what if" today.

When I lived in the Northeast most shops just logged out what they sold to you. No ID required.

Amazing that the storylines of yesteryear sci-fi shows have become reality to an extent....

100% correct! The computer we are all typing on has a heat sink and maybe a cooling fan for the processor. Small beans for whats out there...
