This is my 1860 Pietta and is the only revolver(single or double action) I have ever owned that came from the factory text book timed but the bolt is rather loose in the knocks compared to modern revolvers. It will pass the thumb drag test though. MD

I timed out so will continue my comment here.
Notice on the back side of the knock there is a tiny area of shiny metal at the top and middle that I did not notice before the close up picture I posted. The bolt is a tiny bit slow to clear here and although a finger nail check shows no raise metal the bolt top is definitely making a small amount of rub contact here in retarded lift at the corner.
I will Dykem mark the bolt top and a few stone stokes at that spot on the bolt orbit should make it clear.
Yah know , come to thing on it more, that may have happened before I set the barrel back and the hand was moving the cylinder forward farther before rotation. The Dykem will tell the story.MD

This forum is for the discussion of muzzleloading firearm, though discussion of cap and ball revolvers is allowed.

Please refer to forum rules, particularly No.4: Although not muzzleloaders, we do allow discussions of percussion revolvers.

Please respect this forum.
I'm quite aware of the rules and I very much respect this forum, which is why I support it. I resent the implication that I do not respect the forum. This is a discussion about REVOLVER timing. I'm very sorry that I do not have decent pics of percussion pistol bolt notches but everything in this thread is VERY relevant to percussion revolvers.

But thanks for the condescending reminder. :td:

And in doing so, encouraged others to post images of cartridge firing longarm actions.

While relevant, they are NOT cap and ball.

Does being a supporting member make you above the rules of the forum?

Further discussion can be done in the Private Topics section of the forum.

Does being a supporting member make you a moderator? Does it give you the right to railroad a productive thread with your condescending schoolhouse reprimand???

Either contribute something productive, report the thread or go away.

PS, if I had the ability, I would edit out the pics I posted so you wouldn't be so butt-hurt over it.

and this argueing is helping us learn about timing just how exactly?

I am trying to protect the topic of this forum. This is the Traditional Muzzleloading Forum. Cartridge guns and inlines are forbidden.

And Craigc, I'm an Ogre, not a troll. :haha:
