Because I can be lazy, I pull the load, so I don't have to be as fanatical as I do with a dirty gun. If I do want to shoot it out because the gun is already dirty, I head to the gun club. I do live in the country, but out of respect of my neighbors, I do not shoot at home. I live in an area where guns are common, but still. If I do, it is because I KNOW the neighbors are not at home. I feel in this current anti-gun atmosphere, better to be on the cautious side.

Now that I moved from the country to town I dont even clean my guns outside. With 1/2 of our country thinking that owning a gun brands you as a potential nut case, gangster.or,dare I say it,teapartier, I dont throw gasoline on the fire.By the by I am a tea partier and most likly a nut case,at least of the non violent sort

That's huge. Back when we were all shooting, we'd always check in with each other before doing so. Just common courtesy.

same thing i was thinking except for today, i got up this morning about 5 and it was raining and it came down all day till a hour or so ago we got a little over 3 inches. i shoot all the time my neighbors shoot all the time what few i have, the only thing that has slowed them down is they shoot centerfires and rimfires and walmart has ran out of bullets. i got to thinking about the talk about crooks hearing the shooting and coming to get my guns. it wouldn't be hard for them cause i haven't locked my doors that i remember and the keys have been in my truck for the last 20 years. now that i said all that some nut will come through from ya'lls hood and rob me and use my truck to haul all my guns and stuff off. but theres one dang thing for sure if they do, they will have to stop at the store and get gas cause its sitting on empty.

Heres to true country living where you can deer & turkey hunt off the front porch, target shoot all day and if you don't care about mowing the grass you can always just open the pasture gate and let the cows and horses graze it down. That reminds me i got to go shut the gate.

Out in my neck of the suburban woods its "legal" to shoot any gun you want on your own property, as long as its done responsibly (good backstop, good direction, etc.) I say "legal," but the laws were recently changed to allow that, and as far as I know, they arent on the books yet. A few days after my dad found out about the law change, our neighbor bought a .308 and didnt know if the attached scope was any accurate, so we set a 2 liter bottle in the swail from about 25 yards and took a crack at it :haha: Surprised the cops never showed up :rotf: Also, its apparently legal to tote any gun you want in public as long as its unloaded and in plain view. Dont know the whole deal with that deal though.

I shoot on my property, snap caps after cleaning (sometimes as late as 10:00 PM),no issues. Got a neighbor that shoots opossum at all hours of the night. Wanna guess what else I do off my front and back porches?

10PM?
Made me think about a fella I used to know in south Louisiana. He had an armadillo tearing up his yard and flower beds. So one night he spotted that armadillo in the moon light, took careful aim and put a hole right through his dog's flipped over upside down stainless steel water bowl. :rotf:

I find in my area its not the city people who are shooting road signs or causing concerns, its the dog gone locals who think their still living in the 50's and 60's when no one was living "out" here in the country, now every year we got a new house being built on any available 40 acres...thank the good lord I've got enuf land around me to keep the neighbors from complaining about my shootin! so far....
