Just saw this on Ebay, fingers crossed it remains at a low price. Said to be early 19th cent. Looks authentic to me, what with the GR inscription and all, but you never can tell just by a photo. What do you chaps think?
Hummm
GR does not look centered on flask.. I would think a good engraver would consider that.
Screw to hold on flask head has no slot and looks peened in place?
On the plus side it does look like it is made of heavy copper instead of thin brass.
More pictures?
Hmm, a bit like with collectible coins, then. But still, as an interesting but functional object I am interested. I can't see a manufacturer's mark on the spout.Did the seller say who the maker is? It is normally marked on the spout.
Unfortunately, it's been polished recently which detracts from the value.
At the moment it is at 25 pounds (35 Dollars?). I'm not sure about the spout - I was assuming it was a screw - in spout, which I could change for different loads, but I suppose I'd best message the guy to make sure.No slots on the screws holding the flask head on this side either....
Is the spout adjustable? hard to tell from these pictures.
Depending on price, I would buy it, but then again, I collect things.
Yes much the same as coins.Hmm, a bit like with collectible coins, then. But still, as an interesting but functional object I am interested. I can't see a manufacturer's mark on the spout.
