Just saw this on Ebay, fingers crossed it remains at a low price. Said to be early 19th cent. Looks authentic to me, what with the GR inscription and all, but you never can tell just by a photo. What do you chaps think?

Hummm

GR does not look centered on flask.. I would think a good engraver would consider that.
Screw to hold on flask head has no slot and looks peened in place?
On the plus side it does look like it is made of heavy copper instead of thin brass.

More pictures?

Did the seller say who the maker is? It is normally marked on the spout.
Unfortunately, it's been polished recently which detracts from the value.
Hmm, a bit like with collectible coins, then. But still, as an interesting but functional object I am interested. I can't see a manufacturer's mark on the spout.

No slots on the screws holding the flask head on this side either....

Is the spout adjustable? hard to tell from these pictures.

Depending on price, I would buy it, but then again, I collect things.:thumb:
At the moment it is at 25 pounds (35 Dollars?). I'm not sure about the spout - I was assuming it was a screw - in spout, which I could change for different loads, but I suppose I'd best message the guy to make sure.

I'm somewhat put off by the spout. It appears to be much newer than the flask. Other than for a revolver, I don't use a flask and spout to measure a charge. I pour from the flask to a separate measure to transfer the charge.

Still, I agree with the others, I would buy the flask for a reasonable price.
