February 21 is National Sticky Bun Day!

As I am sure you all are waiting to celebrate this reknown holiday I decided to celebrate with a sticky bun target.

The usual three categories: rifle, smoothbore, (smoothbore must not be equipped with rear sight - front sight/bead only) or handgun

Two ways to shoot: Offhand from 25 yards with rifle or smoothbore or 15 yards with handgun.
Bench rest/supported from 25 yards with rifle or smoothbore or 15 yards with handgun

Mark your targets as either rifle or smoothbore or handgun and either offhand or benchrest/supported.

10 shots for score - 2 shots per sticky bun
Hit the sticky bun for 10 points
Ball must be half way into the target area to score points. Maximum score is 100 pts.
I taped this target to my garage door and stepped off 15 & 25 yards and thought it looked pretty clear - see what happens when take it to the range and I shoot at it!
Feel free to use a marker to make the outline a little thicker on the inside of the drawing or color in the stickybun body to make it more visible. I don't like to make the targets too dense as it will use up a lot of ink/toner.

Shoot as many times as you wish but please only post one target per category with pictures of target (and gear, if possible - we love to see everyone's equipment and load data!) Post jpg or pdf formats. Please score your own targets and write your score on the target along with information on the load you used. I will check scores and it helps me if you will draw a line to each hole in the target and write your points for each shot - makes it easier for me to check the targets.

Prize is same as always - bragging rights on the forum!
I will be posting January results this weekend.

Have fun with this:thumb:

So we draw picture of a sticky cinnamon roll and put it on the target board and shoot at it?
We have 10 shots and must hit the bun at least two out of the 10 times?

Can you describe what you mean when you say the shots must be halfway into the target area?

Thank you

GaryPL and I took a shot at this target this afternoon. The good news is the weather was beautiful and warm. The bad news is those sticky buns were tiny. I tried it with my Lyman Great Plains in 50 caliber. The target speaks for itself. I have only shot steel and clay sized targets with this pistol. I think the gun showed promise at the smaller targets. I just need to work with it some more. It was a really good day.

this is not a criticism I think you are doing a thankless service to the rest of us ! .........but maybe you could get more participation if this was posted in the what did you do today thread don't let them print a target until they join but let them see a shot target or two ..... might increase members and supporters

Thanks for your sugestion, and I see no problem if members want to post their targets in both forums.

To be perfectly honest I do not want to get too bogged down in running this monthly match because I run a small business, serve on the board of my local gun club, run a trapshooting league, do leatherworking on the side, and I am trying to find time to finish building 4 rifles. I normally put in 12-14 hour days doing all of these activities and I am not complaining becasuse I enjoy doing all of these, but I am not necessarily looking forward to adding more to my plate at this time:thumb:

Printed target, looks like they were cooked by the “Lollipop Guild of Munchkin land!” Will adorn with florescent icing prior to shooting!

I printed them in color and B&W and I could see the B&W targets much better. I was going tomake them even smaller, but when I taped them to my garage door and stepped back 25 yards I decided I better enlarge them a bit!

Bench shot. Patch and lube do matter. Got lazy and bought some prelubed BoreButter .015” patches. .490, 40 grains Schutzen . Shot 4 times, top left and top center. Then went to .017” material, 20% Dawn. Only scored 40 but last 6 shoots touching or darn near. Hope March brings some big honkin strawberries!
