With the triggers installed I cut the stock for LOP and fit the butt plate.

Now I can rough shape the butt stock.

Yup.....now is when they are 80% done, and the last 20% takes 80% of the work :rotf:

I start to get afraid at this stage, as mistakes and mis-calculations aren't a easy fix......now is the measure three times cut once period :surrender:

I drilled the trigger plate for the plunger. I made the plunger from W1 drill rod and hardened it. I made a flat spring to put pressure on the plunger that is held in place by the rear trigger plate screw. I cut a detent in the trigger guard with a ball end mill.

When the action is closed the plunger goes into the detent and holds the action closed.

I also made and installed a toe plate.

Installed the under lugs to the barrel and fit the keepers.

I also installed the lock screw and a White Lightning vent liner.

I think my reproduction Ferguson rifle has what they call the Morse thread. Looking at all those modern machines it makes one wonder how they did this in 1775.

I agree with Cynthia.....this thread outdoes all others....you are really good at this!

I made the ram rod pipes and silver soldered them to the under rib with 45% silver solder. After cleaning up the solder I fastened the under rib to the barrel.

The hole in front of the rear pipe is for a sling swivel.

I made the rear sight.

I started with a heavy angle and cut a piece wider than needed.

I sawed off the excess and

finished shaping on my milling machine.

I inlet the escutcheons and rough shaped the fore end.

I put the rifle together on the roughed out stock to see how it looks.

I think it's going to look O K but maybe that's just me.
