Whatever you do, it will not be perfect. If you must fill it, I would get a chunk of material that matches your wood and glue a strip on the wood. The grain is the issue, you have to keep the patch consistent with the grain. I believe some gap (or all of it) is needed in order to pivot the barrel out. Make sure you check for clearance before you add anything, othwise barrel removel will be your next issue. Good luck.What's a good filler or epoxy for this gap? Thanks
The other side doesn't have a gap. The way it is now, I have to remove the tang to take the right lock plate off.Whatever you do, it will not be perfect.
