It was a long, long wait, but I'm a pretty patient guy. Finally got this in the mail today from Roy Stroh.
Smoothbore. .550 (28ga), octagon-to-round, tapered-and-flared, 46", Charlie Burton barrel. Davis lock. Walnut.
If it shoots anywhere near as good as it looks, I'm gonna be winning a lot of smoothbore matches. Gonna take it to the range tomorrow and see what I can do.

25 yards offhand.
Not bad for the first time out.
And I ended up using the exact same load as my .54 riflegun.
Next time I'll work on the sights a little.

Sweet! I've got a rifle on Roy's docket that is very close to coming to fruition once the Charles Burton Barrel gets in.

Back when I commissioned Roy to build this gun, all I really specified was the barrel I wanted. And that it look appropriate for 1770's. The rest was all left up to Roy. I told him to build it the way he would like to build it, I knew it would be something nice.
