What is your opinion on the Chambers Kit? You made a beautiful rifle out of it. So many people on the forum have nothing but negative thing to say about kits? I have only made one, 15 yrs ago, a Lyman PlThanks! I had a great teacher.
Thank you!!What is your opinion on the Chambers Kit? You made a beautiful rifle out of it. So many people on the forum have nothing but negative thing to say about kits? I have only made one, 15 yrs ago, a Lyman Plains Rifle in .50. It turned out perfectly IMHO and it shoots quite well, and I am certain it is not considered a "high" end kit, but I had zero problems with it. Please give me your opinion on the chambers kit, because it is obvious you have the skill to get the most out of a kit! Lyman on the top.
Thanks Penske! Which Chambers are you going to build? What a wonderful built fowler. Your inletting is suberb. Understand what your saying about the Chambers kits. They take time and effort to get the result you have achieved. I have a chambers kit on order and have completed a Rifle Shop kit so have the same understanding on what it takes to get one of these kits together. Again a wonderful job!
Very well put.Thank you!!
My opinion on a Chambers kit is probably the same as anyone that has built one. The parts are top notch. The Lock is amazing. The Chambers folks are great! It's "builders" parts kit, it's not a kit that just fits together like a shelf you bought at IKEA. It's a box of rough cast parts, unfinished barrel, and a roughly cut stock that nothing will fit in until you make it fit. It's not comparable to a Lyman kit. I've assembled several of those factory kits. I'm not knocking them, it's just a different level of effort, complexity and skills needed to build something out of a parts kit such as this Chambers. I hope that paints a picture. Again I'm not knocking the factory kits. I just don't want you running off buying a Chambers kit and being disappointed when you realize it will take you a year to build it (if you are as slow as I am)!
Btw you have some beautiful guns!
