I dont shoot the flying, but tree rats bunnies and ol'tom go down real quick before greased tow wadded gun. Out to 25 yards I dont see any difference between tow wads under bare ball and Prb, and at 50 yards I can touch the spread with my fingers. On a skeet line I have no exprince but tow works well otherwise. I like it greasy as it loads well.

spudnut's concern is valid.

Absolutely!....wasn't trying to suggest otherwise...

I once set a hayfield on fire with my howitzer and (long story ,don't ask) by the time my down range spotter could run a 100 yards to put it out it had burnt a 10 foot circle.

I don't like modern cards and fiber wads, the cards are impossible to seat without flipping in the bore without a shotgun tip on the rod and I don't want one on my bess.
The best wadding I have ever used are dead leaves(when theyre just right)or a plug of field grass.
The whole thing is,when on the range at a woodswalk you have to call the line cold to walk down and stomp out a smoker(sometimes)I have a newbe shooting smoothbore with me and I am showing him how to wad natural and he bought a bunch of tow. So I want to fireproof some so we don't have to keep calling the line cold.
