I agree on spit if I'm at the range, but if I'm hunting I'll use some type of grease patch if the gun will remain loaded for any length of time. I've used all kinds of stuff including crisco, wonderlube, TC lube, Hoppes BP lube etc. and can't see much difference for deer range shooting.
