I pulled my dads TC flintlock out and its constantly misfiring. Not enough spark or weak spring. I also think the frizzen is soft, compared to other flintlocks. Has anyone heard of this happening will replacement locks also fit in the stock. i.e.. same dimensions of lock plate.

L&R makes a T/C replacement lock. It's not a direct R&R lock as it has the traditional internal components. You'll need to do a little mortising work.
Before you go ripping the lock out, Is the flint properly knapped, installed properly, or try a different one?

The likely culprit of the the non-spark is the frizzen. The T\C frizzen was notorious in sparking for about 30 to 50 times, and that was about it. (Yeah...ask me how I know this) T\C did get better as they began to replace them for free, but now that they do nothing about 'em I believe if you search these post you should find one that will tell you how to "replate" the face of a frizzen with a hack saw blade. (grind off the blade teeth)

I hope this helps.

yep I thought so! Just feeling the steel on the frizzen didn't feel right like most flintlocks. Thanks, I looked on l& R I also changed out the flint once we got back from range and is putting out more spark but steel is soft. going to change it out with new lock in the future.
