Good advice! I was thinking of ditching the steel dowel pins and gluing in wood dowels and maybe using a piece of walnut to accent it. Thoughts?OP. I've built a couple Traditions .50 Kentucky rifles. And refurbished three .45 Jukar rifles. They are great shooters.

I will address something right off the bat. Turn that two piece stock into a one piece stock. Epoxy is our friend. It will make building your rifle so much easier. You can use the brass spacer provided or make a wood shim the exact width of the brass spacer and secure in place.
Good luck, be patient and have fun.
I would wonder if wood dowels (if as thin as I think they would have to be) would be strong enough to resist recoil? Rank amateur here so could be way off.Good advice! I was thinking of ditching the steel dowel pins and gluing in wood dowels and maybe using a piece of walnut to accent it. Thoughts?
