Ooh, Ooh, I can help with that. Try one of the hugely wide English Civil War Cavalier Waist Sashes. You may even be able to carry a brace of such pistols concealed. :haha:
Thanks for the kind comment on the flask. It's actually an original, made in Nuremberg, and can be dated exactly to 1570/75. And it's in working order.
Wore the pistol and holster to the Port-Neuf Rendezvous. Worked really well. The pistol is pretty large and heavy but didn't feel too heavy when worn. Had it on for about 6 hours and was not uncomfortable at all. I think I was the only one there wearing a pistol, at least that I saw.
Good for you! That is a good way to test the viability of the holster. If you can kneel, sit and be in different positions with it and without obvious fault or too much discomfort; then it sounds like it will do what you want.
Don't sell yourself short. All that's needed to make such a holster is a piece or two of decent leather, some strong shears, an awl, and some thread. It's super simple. Even if it turns out "rough" that is right up the alley for a mountain man and will look rustic!
As for your pistol, not many that sized would have been toted without a saddle holster, however. Don't let that stop you!
