I have an L&R late english on my Leman and was crushing flints alot. I sent the lock back to get a new frizzen fitted and installed and got a call from them stating that the spring was to light. They swapped it out and I'll be darned if I haven't smashed a flint since. I have the L&R replacement lock on my GPR and love it. That and the trigger set from Davis are worth while upgrades. It makes a good gun much better.

" On this, sir, we are in agreement! "

I promise not to tell anyone! I would not want to sully your reputation. :haha:

I reworked the trigger assembly and it is a great trigger now. I will not do anything else to the cock the rifle is all it can be now it is a shooter

I don't even know where to start now. Still getting less than desirable spark. Sparks are hitting forward of the pan. Flints still get beat up. Frizzen is hard to open. Not sure about how to make the pan bigger or lighten the frizzen or polish the internal parts. I got a lot to think about and work on. Wish I knew someone around here that was good with flintlocks. I would hate to ruin my lock, but I really want to get this thing working reliably. I'll try and get some pics up and maybe that will help determine my problem.

Take a drive down to Dixon's at Kempton, PA( see their website for directions), home of the Dixon's Gunmaker's Fair. Take the lock with you. They can help you.

Its worth the drive just to see the shop, and gaze at all the guns, and gear for sale.

Man this is twice in the same post but again I agree with Mr. vallandigham. Not trying to say you couldn't fix it but it's more better to have someone that knows flintlocks to help the first time user. I know from the hard way route, believe me, I know.
