Anyone know if anything is going on with Fort Turner. I ordered 2 hawks back on Dec 30 and my visa was charged. I sent a follow-up email Jan 12, said he'd been sick and get right to them, but now here it is almost March and still no hawks.

Wow, I've had nothing but great service from them. I've bought 3 hawks and love them. Hope that they haven't gone TU!

Thanks Claude,
I was going to wait until the end of the week and do just that. I was just curious if anyone had heard anything.

I met the owners of Fort Turner a few years ago. The husband suffers from severe back trouble. I have purchased several pieces from them and have been completely satisfied.

I hope his health is holding out... :idunno:

I have an order in and spoke to him a few weeks ago. He said that he was sick in January, and was behind on his work. He was really nice to talk to, I like his work so I will be patient.

I'm sure he will get the hawks done, just might take a little more time.

I've heard good things about his work, which is why I ordered from him. I certainly don't have a problem being patient.

I understand getting sick and getting behind, but just sending an email now and again, letting us know the status of our orders would be appreciated.

I agree, I like communication myself. If you call him to find out the status of your order, can you post what you found out?

I am curious to how long my order will take since I ordered a month after you. My understanding was two weeks behind, hopefully he is not having any more health problems.

Just to follow up and word to the wise, still no hawks. I sent an email May 2, canceling the order that he hasn't responded to. I called Visa today and they opened a dispute for me.

Too bad you haven't had any reply from Fort Turner. :idunno:

I have an old "Shawnee" tomahawk from Dixie Gun Works. It is about thirty years old and has seen an awful lot of use. The first one I had from Dixie cracked. I called them and they said to send it back. They replaced the damaged piece at no charge. It is rock solid and a great one for throwing. I just checked their website and the head looks slightly different from the one I have. I know things will change like the shape of the blade. I have to tell you I wish I had purchased a couple more of them a long time ago.

Give them a look.

I spoke to Dana today. He is having some health issues, but is doing his best to complete the orders.

I was very impressed that even though he is behind he is not skimping on quality to get the orders out. He will make a very high quality hawk.

He just asks that people with orders be patient and he will get the orders completed.

I do like his work. I hope he can get over or at least ease his health issues. Fine throwing knives and tomahawks.

Well I better buckle up and make a big lunch...because I ordered two hawks from Fort Turner the end of March and it appears I'm in for a long wait.

It's now 9 weeks and counting...I took your advice and bought boxes of jerky....the wait continues.

It's now been 2 1/2 months...still no hawks, I'm out of jerky, I'm out of twinkies and very soon I will be out of patience. What an absolute terrible way to run a business...No heads up, no email to tell you he's behind....but HEY...no problem taking your money 3 seconds after you place a order..I will wait 2 more weeks as an act of good faith and then I to will cancel my order

That is really unfortunate. :idunno:

Take a look at Dixie Gun Works. I have one of their "Huron/Shawnee" style hawks. They are great throwers also. When I got mine many years ago, I asked where the heads were made. I was told they were hand forged in Ohio. Very tough tomahawk heads, and not prom queens when it comes to beauty. The shape may have changed some, but give them a look and call. :hmm:
