While on the Outer Banks, drop by the WEEPING RADISH BREWERY & have a draft beer for me. = GREAT local beer that you cannot buy elsewhere.
(Weeping Radish was Andy Griffith's, actor/comedian of TV/movie fame, favorite after he retired on the OB.)

Hopefully I can drink by then. :( I'm dealing with Lyme disease and antibiotics for the next few weeks. If I can't, I'll have my Daughter down a couple for BOTH of us! :haha: Which brew is your preferred?

My Mom and Dad got to know Andy from going down there so many years.

I take it you were at the original Manteo brewery. They moved up to Grandy, on 158.

Exactly so. - I knew Andy Griffith after he retired & often talked to him at Food Lion, at cafes, the Noon Lion's Club & at other local places, when the family owned a beach-house on the OB, at KDH. - He was a NICE & "regular" guy, who was/is "well thought of" down there.

Tell your daughter that my favorite is the "double-dark draft".

Care to share the recipie for the peach wine? Been messing around wines from different fruits have done cherry, strawberry and of course grapes. This year wanna try blueberrys but peach sounds really good.

Look up J Kellers recipe for that peach wine too . Made one that was nice and light, good on a hot day when chilled.

Blueberry can be very diverse. Can be dry, deep and very merlot-like. Or very sweet and sugary. Or on the lighter side.

Personally, it's one of my favorites to experiment with. Plus loaded with good stuff.

Beer is off track for the thread, but I got to say given the choice I will reach for dark bitter and foamy over red and dry. Then red and dry over sweet and oily. A good hard cider that's truly a fruit wine works out as one of the best of the sweets and boozy.

If you ever get the chance to eat a scuppernong grape right off the vine after a frost has hit them DON"T pass it up. Years ago a wine called "Mother Vinyard Scuppernong Wine" was made by a company in Pettersburg VA. It was outstanding. Todays "late harvest Muscat wines" are similar to my taste.
